Do I need a license?

We supply products that work in the 5Ghz band from 5470-5850 MHz which is part of Ofcoms lite licensing regime costing £1 per device, with a minimum charge of £50.

Do I have exclusive use of the radio spectrum?

This part of the spectrum is available for all to use, but it is not popular. The frequency is not occupied by general WiFi users - and equipment supply is rare in this niche market.

Our RF survey will identify other users in the area. Once installed, our equipment can automatically find available spectrum should interference be prevalent.

What speed can I get?

The speed will depend on the distance. Speeds up to 1.4Gbps are possible, but our more popular installations are typically around 150Mbps.

What distance is achievable?

Some equipment we use have a theoreticol distance of up to 300km if using the right antennas. More common are links up to 2km.

I've heard bad weather can effect wireless links?

With a professionally installed RF link, bad weather will not effect the operation. Nor will birds flying in front of the radio path.

When planning your link, it is important to consider what "might" appear in the radio path throughout the life of the link. For example; trees grow and will have a negative effect in wet conditions.

Also consider what buildings may be constructed which could obstruct the radio path.
